High Season
Tivat’s high season, from late June to early September, is defined by warm, sunny weather. Daily temperatures often exceed 30°C, with minimal rainfall, creating ideal conditions for coastal activities. The city hums with increased energy, especially around Porto Montenegro, where superyachts arrive and the promenade becomes a lively hub. Upon arrival, you’ll notice the streets are bustling, restaurant terraces are full, and there’s a palpable holiday atmosphere.
During these months, Tivat embraces an outdoor lifestyle. The beaches along the Bay of Kotor are popular, and the sea is warm for swimming and watersports. Various summer festivals and cultural events take place, featuring music and art, adding to the city’s lively social calendar. This season characterises Tivat as a dynamic Mediterranean resort, attracting many international visitors.
Low Season
The low season, from October to May, sees Tivat adopt a much quieter pace. Temperatures drop significantly, ranging from 5°C to 15°C, with cooler, rainier weather common from November to February. The city feels more subdued and local residents reclaim the public spaces as tourist numbers decrease. You'll find a calmer atmosphere upon landing, with fewer people and a slower rhythm of daily life.
Many seasonal businesses close, but Tivat's essential services and local eateries remain open. The cooler months are suited for exploring the natural beauty of the surrounding area without the summer crowds, such as hiking in the nearby Vrmac mountain range. This period highlights Tivat's authentic local charm and offers a more tranquil experience, distinct from its bustling summer persona.
