Melbourne is served by four airports, but the main one for passenger traffic, especially international flights to Melbourne from Sydney, is Melbourne Airport (MEL), also known as Tullamarine. Avalon Airport (AVV) also handles some domestic and a few international flights. Essendon (MEB) and Moorabbin (MBW) airports mainly serve commercial purposes and aren't relevant for most travellers flying to Melbourne from Sydney.
Airport Information
Melbourne Airport (MEL)
Melbourne Airport offers a wide range of facilities, including shopping, dining, and parking. The airport has four terminals: one for international flights (T2), two for domestic flights (T1 and T3), and one budget domestic terminal (T4).
From the airport to the city centre, you can take the SkyBus, a public bus, a taxi, or hire a car. The Tullamarine Freeway connects the airport directly to the city.
You can find eDreams car rental services at Terminal 3. Booking in advance on the eDreams website is recommended, particularly if your flight to Melbourne from Sydney arrives during peak times.
Avalon Airport (AVV)
Avalon Airport, primarily used by Jetstar and AirAsia for domestic flights, is located about 50 kilometres southwest of Melbourne, considerably farther from the city centre than Melbourne Airport. SkyBus provides transport to and from the city, Geelong, and nearby coastal areas.
{Brand} car rental is available at Melbourne Airport and through eDreams, so compare prices and book your car hire before you fly to Melbourne from Sydney.
